CPCS A09 FORWARD TIPPING DUMPER TRAINING

This CPCS training course provides instruction in correct operation of  the forward tipping dumpers for operators who will be using such machines on site. We provide training as referenced by the laws relating to work equipment and health and safety, and is accredited by the Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS).

The CITB Operatives Health & Safety touch screen test must be current and in date. (Completed within the last 24 months)

COURSE OBJECTIVES

Day One:

  • Site induction, CPCS explanation and expectations.
  • Revision of CPCS theory knowledge questions.
  • Relevant Health & Safety legislation.
  • Roles and responsibilities of the FTD driver.
  • Traffic plans and work management.
  • Preparation for CPCS Theory Tests.

Day Two:

  • Pre-start checks and configuration.
  • Safe positioning and manoeuvring of the vehicle.
  • Awareness of other hazards and users on site.
  • Limitations, hazards and stability factors.
  • Position to receive loads.
  • Travelling over rough terrain.
  • Communication methods.
  • Transferring loads to different locations.
  • Discharging loads into trenches and over edges.
  • Preparation for CPCS Practical Test.

Day Three:

  • CPCS Theory Test (morning) and Practical (afternoon).

COURSE CONTENT

  • The purpose of principle components, the basic construction, controls and terminology.
  • Conform with manufacturer’s requirements as per the handbook, other types of information, relevant regulations and legislation.
  • Undertake all pre-use checks.
  • Confgure and ready for travel (site and highway).
  • Travel over rough, undulating ground, steep inclines and level services – loaded and unloaded.
  • Manoeuvre in confned spaces.
  • Ensure the suitability of the tipping and loading area.
  • Position to receive loads.
  • Comply with loading procedures.
  • Ensure load integrity and security.
  • Transfer loads to diferent locations.

ABOUT CPCS:

The Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS) provides skills cards for the plant sector of the Construction and allied industries. It was launched in 2003 and since then over 300,000 cards have been issued across 60 categories of plant and related occupations. The CPCS Management Committee continually review and amend the Scheme in the light of on-going Industry feedback, and external factors such latest occupational health issues, technology advances and new plant types are where the Scheme has undertaken such amendments.

CPCS maintains focus on ensuring that the Scheme is centred on the principles of independent, rigorous assessment of operating ability and for assurance of for competence assurance, raising of standards expected in the plant sector. We continue to reserve ways to allow individuals to maintain or re-apply for expired cards, and providing extensions whilst working towards competency.

With on-going changes come on-going challenges and we look forward to continuing work with Industry and our Test Centres to ensure that the Scheme further contributes to establishing a competent, safe and efficient plant industry.
